Racisme anti-rom : exutoire et symptôme de la crise européenne
:: Traduit par Ralitsa Frison-Roche / 26.09.10
:: 0 comments

One of the disadvantages of current representative democracies is the discrepancy between the agenda of the regular citizen and the agenda of leaders and political elites. As the practices of direct democracy lose ground to the dominant-elitist decision making system, people's interest in the fairness of state policies decreases, and criticisms of governing actions are usually isolated and more symbolic than mobilizing.

Block the Vichy European Summit on Immigration, November 3-4 2008!
On the next November 3rd and 4th , the French presidency of the
European Union will gather, upon the initiative of Brice Hortefeux, French minister of immigration, integration and national identity, the whole 27 European ministers of Interior and Justice. They will all meet in Vichy, the historic capital of the pro-Nazi regime in France during the Second World War, where deportation of the Jews, along with other "undesirable" people, was orchestrated by the government. Today, the European ministers will attempt to firmly discuss on the control on the
fluxes of immigrant workers and the application of the (in)famous «return directive », that facilitates the deportation of migrants at a European level.

Hereby, we address our call to the civil society in democratic Europe, especially from the Czech republic, to the free mass-media to help us in the justified and lawful effort of autoexilation in order for us to be able to activate as free human beings and as a perfectly legal organization.

On Commissionism[1] and Roma issues

The Commission is living a dream; the majority of Roma continue living a nightmare[2]

An inventory of existing Roma bodies and Roma-relevant documents of the intergovernmental organisations would be quite impressive. When it comes to the European Union (the focus of this article) the situation as seen by people in Brussels is better than the average. There is a Commissioner in charge of Roma issues, and hundreds of documents have been produced since 1984 detailing the problems Roma face in Europe . Most of those documents and official speeches refer to the need for positive action “to reverse the effects of centuries of prejudice and exclusion.[3]”

Warning for all the people that want to cross into Romania

After the experience of yesterday, all the people that want to cross
the border now should keep in mind that the border police (Romanian
authorities) will look for the smallest and most ridiculous reason not
to let them cross the border into Romania. Since weeks ago the media is
creating a false image of anarchists that will come to Romania and
start violent riots, just to give an excuse for the police repression.
